This product is not available anywhere else in the UK to the best of our knowledge. It has been specially sourced from the US. It has a multitude of uses. It can be used to give an enema to a newborn cria that hasn’t passed its first faeces and is straining to do so. It can also be used to diagnose choanal atresia in newborn crias: this is a genetic and congenital defect that results in the airway at the back of the nostrils not being open to facilitate breathing. Instead there is a membranous or bony obstruction. This soft red rubber catheter can be passed up either nostril to see if there is just such an obstruction. The obstruction will be at the level of the inner eye – and is usually present on both sides.
